Partners Will Address Security, Communication, and eCommerce Needs using Innovative Printed Electronics Technology

OSLO, Norway, December 21, 2016 – Thin Film Electronics ASA (“Thinfilm”), a global leader in NFC (near field communication) smart-packaging solutions using printed electronics, today announced a partnership with Prime Vision, a leading solutions provider for the postal, parcel, logistics and airport markets.

ISTANBUL, Turkey (September 19, 2016) – Prime Competence and Unmanned Life announced, at the Postal Innovation Platform Conference – the forum for key players in postal innovation – that they have started the pilot deployment of the world’s first autonomous drone-based sorting centre for a major European post.

Securing and controlling access to street mailboxes has been the focus of a new proof-of-concept carried out by Prime Competence on behalf of a major European post.  The successful program highlights the substantial benefits for fraud prevention and dynamic secure access control to authorized users.

Although the Internet of Things sounds fantastic and promises big changes, what does it mean for posts? For many, the sheer scope of the technology can act as disincentive. As a result, what’s needed is expert navigation from experienced professionals who know how to unlock the potential of the Internet of Postal Things (IoPT).

Prime Competence has a new concept for postal sorting operations that could be a game-changer for posts and express-parcel carriers alike: sorting without a sorter. Now, with a major post (considered to be one of the worlds most automated posts) signed-up to build a proof-of-concept model, it’s time to shed some light on what could be the future for parcel sorting.

This year was the first time that the global show of Post-Expo, the world’s leading international postal and parcel industry exhibition and conference, took place in Asia-Pacific. The Prime Competence team didn’t want to miss this opportunity!

The Asia-Pacific region remains one of the world’s most dynamic (and interesting) postal and logistics markets both in terms of service development and innovation.

Prime Competence has developed a Reference Framework for posts new to the rapidly emerging Internet of Postal Things (IoPT). The IoPT is a network of physical objects — machines, equipment, vehicles and other items — embedded with electronics, software, sensors and connectivity that enables these objects to collect and exchange data to the advantage of the user.

Prime Competence is an independent, knowledgeable and skilled consultancy and concept development agency. Our team has extensive experience in researching and modeling sophisticated processes in order to facilitate further insights, automation or optimization.

We are  also very active in the Innovation & Business Development field, helping postal operators with new initiatives, adding new business models and value to current postal operations, plus support and management of new development projects.

Prime Competence is currently running innovation workshops with several leading posts on a wide range of technology subjects, designed to raise awareness of the huge business potential that is open to the industry.

Emerging and trending topics include IoPT (Internet of Postal Things), smarter collection, delivery opportunities, live asset tracking nationwide and developing new revenue streams.

In its latest Asia-Pacific Trade and Investment Report (APTIR), the United Nations Economical and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) states that the region remains the most dynamic pole of the global economy, even though trade and investment has yet to return to pre-crisis levels.
